  • Grower's Note: The climatic conditions of the 2016 vintage have allowed the production of a quality wine. The cool, moist spring allowed a magnificent vegetative balance of the vine. The dry and sunny weather at the beginning of June offered a beautiful flowering. The summer drought brought quite significant water stresses and thus gave the grapes a rich colour and tannins. The three days of rain from September 13 to 16 gave optimal ripening of the berries before the harvest. The weather conditions to achieve this one from September 28 to October 19 were fantastic.

Tasting Notes: A deep colour, the Château Branaire Ducru 2016 offers a complex and expressive nose that develops fragrances of ripe fruit and is at once rich, precise and fresh. Homogeneous in the mouth, it proves fleshy from the moment of attack. The tannic weft combines great finesse with a high density. The finish is long and precise. An exceptionally dense and fine wine that is part of one of the best vintages in the history of the property.

This is clearly the best wine I have tasted from Branaire-Ducru. Exquisite depth and richness are on offer, yet this is always framed and focused. Layers of fruit and tannins. So deep and long. Incredible quality; James Suckling - April 2017
